Since God loves us so much, He will never force us to do something that we are not ready to do. He gives us free wIll. It’s our choice to choose His way or our way. Love never pressures us to love Him. He wants us to choose His way willingly through faith and to love Him out of devotion. God calls His people to a place of rest, a place to call home, a place to join His family.
Sometimes we cling to our old ways for dear life, instead of embracing the reality who we belong to, the God of our creation.
When we are determined to get our own way and insist on our agenda, we actually block God out of our consciousness. Rather than single-mindedly following some selfish goal, we must take a quick turn to God and ask Him to shine His light on our mission, so that we can see it clearly from His perspective. Cling to God, not His favors. All it takes is a quick prayer, a simple conversation with our Creator. Of course, it must be done with faith (an open mind and heart) if we are to be receptive to His plan.
This is what Jesus said as He faced an immense physical pain and death on the cross for you and me: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
